Burnout

Burnout is a work-related condition that happens when job stress builds up over time and is not managed well.

  • Extreme exhaustion

  • Detachment or cynicism

  • Lower effectiveness

What causes it?

Common causes are heavy workloads, little control over tasks or decisions, and weak support from colleagues or supervisors. Burnout can harm health and daily functioning, leading to poor sleep, depression, body pain, low performance, and increased absenteeism.

How to prevent it?

  • Setting boundaries between life and personal life

  • Staying physically active

  • Proper sleep

  • Building a strong social connection

  • Therapy, if possible
